Who will save us from these ruthless capitalists?

Bullshit.
The Kochs are a high profile name thanks to Environmental groups (Koch Industries is about as environmentally irresponsible as they come). I am not defending their environmental practices in any way shape or form. I have done some digging, and that was the only “dirt” I actually found. They’re ruthless in regards to the environment, and they don’t follow rules they don’t agree with. Their pattern of behavior suggests they do a Cost Benefit Analysis on environmental laws and simply skip the ones which cost them more to follow (where the fine is less than the cost of compliance/ the risk of getting caught cheating). The fact that they self reported violations tells me that the fines in place are probably undervalued. Koch Industries DID in fact break the top 100 “Heavy Hitters” by OpenSecrets for lobbying from 1989-Present. However, they sit at number 83 with about 35 unions above them on that list, unions being 6 out of the top 10 policy purchasers (my wording ;o) ). The Koch’s gained some infamy recently by pushing (and succeeding) to protect the “free speech” of business interests; a quick glance of these top pork panhandlers shows that unions have been cashing in for a while without anyone blinking an eye.

Koch Industries has spent ~1/3 the amount of the National Education Association during this time despite being demonized exponentially so. If the Kochs are dickheads about the environment, then the N.E.A. are total dickheads about our kids.

Educational Spending Vs Reality
Here are issues the NEA lobbies:
If we are to preserve and advance America’s public schools, we must meet the needs of these children, support ethnic minority community commitment to public education, work collaboratively to improve the quality of their schools, and assure all children the education they need and deserve.
If you have watched a school choice documentary, you probably have seen this in action. They literally are purchasing grass roots movements to try and prevent education reform towards free market systems (where parents can pick the best education available). They purchase parents to sell out their kids’ (and their neighbor’s kids’) future. The unions lobby against competition in the education market, keeping private schools a luxury good (which they themselves enjoy). 2004 Thomas B. Fordham Institute

Why are they reaching out to Minority Communities? Simply put, it’s their policies & lobbying that are preventing their children from getting the education they deserve:

The Koch Brothers are both active and vocal on a range of free market issues, but a majority of their lobbying is focused on laws that directly effect their business (Petro-Chem). The unions spend many times this amount protecting their own interests. It’s come at the cost of increased budget debt, and it had also come at the cost of our children’s education. At least when the Koch Brothers are lobbying to screw the environment, they don’t have the audacity to tell us they’re environmentalists.
